Digital Girl

Let’s chat. This year has been one for the books. A lot of highs and lows, and most importantly, beating out a new path in a new career field. I’ve always enjoyed social media and working in digital spaces, but this year I got my first full time, salaried position and well… things got real. While I am currently looking for more career opportunities that will offer more space to grow, I am also learning more and more about interviewing process and what works and doesn’t work for me, along with strengthening my craft.
Honestly, it’s scary out here. If the dating pool has piss in it, the job market isn’t far behind. I’ve always viewed an interview as a great time to see if I’m a good fit for a company, if our values align and the overall moral and treatment of the employees. In short, I’m interviewing you too! There have been so many companies that have been unorganized, getting by with older marketing methods/strategies or just overall not ready to invest in a marketing department. Instead of viewing it as a waste of time, I just used it as a chance to sharpen my interviewing skills and figure out how to weed out potential employment red flags.
Finding out that I didn’t get a job or got ghosted by a recruiter can naturally be disappointing. Every now and then I find my self looking up companies that I was excited at the chance of an opportunity to work with, just to see what they were up to. For the most part, they are up to nothing. While I’m not aware of the innerworkings of the company, I wonder what they were looking for and if some of the smaller companies knew how to find it.
In the mean time, I’m working on my craft until I find my digital forever home. A certificate here, a conference there. How about some better equipment? Which algorithms have changed?
